Debden, Stansted way, 10th May, Mark tells me it is bumpy though.
Lydden, Maidstone, 9th May, a fast circuit. I will be there too.

And another good thread ......

Debden are using a new layout this year, never been as bumpy as North weald but yes, still an old airfield.
the Lydden event is part of the Apex festival- a vw themed weekend show- don't expect the quiet Lydden Hill of past sprints! Sprint will be over by lunchtime but you will be able to hang around for the rest of the days show.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

The msa blue book says:

numbers1.PNG

numbers2.PNG

you can buy numbers of the correct type and size on the day if you want.

but tbh people dont always have white background on. i think as long as the number is easily identifiable, i.e contrast of colours then you'll be fine. since your car is blue you could use white numbers...

timing struts, the msa blue book says:

strut.PNG

you can attach them to whatever you can find at the front, most commonly one of the number plate fixing point...

make sure you use some black rigid material to make it...

Thanks for that I have the blue book but missed the bit about the size of the strut :crazy and as for the numbers professional ones should be ok as Simon uses old tape.

strut is not easy on road spider, you can make one to bolt on to the tow eye but once on, you will be unable to lift the front end and the inside edge of the strut has to be beyond the furthest forward part of the car. (not that Prescott will care but other places might) I used some heavy duty Velcro on the number plate as I could hide the Velcro on the upright of the "R" as the "R" in my reg plate happened to be dead centre. Maybe ask Mr Gardiner what his solution is.
For the race Spider I fitted 2 rivnuts on the front bumper in the number plate area to bolt it to.

Ok what about tyres OE are 195/40 17s there's not alot of choice. Would a change to 16s be good seems to give more opportunities for track tyres and road. The 16s seem better value too what do you think lets hear your thoughts. I have to get 2 new ones for the 17s but a new set of 16s could be used for track in the summer and maybe then winter tyres as well. Discuss.

Really depends what size rims (i mean width) you have but track tyres in 17" 195 wide you'll be lucky to find something
in 16" 195 wide you have toyo r888 or yoko a048, they are 50 profile which would work ok but they arent cheap...
if you have some 7j or more then you can fit 205 tyres and then you have a lot more choice...

You need to decide what you are doing before changing tyres, if it just Prescot then fine but if you intend to run in road going in MSA sprints then you may need list 1A tyres depending on class and regs.

I dont see you guys entered into the Rushmoor sprint on Sunday 3rd May.
already there are 52 entries and I think the max is 60 .... or is it 80?
Anyhow, get entries in quick.
Twingo will be fine, as will numbers stuck on door without white back ground. If you want numbers, get a pack from demon tweeks.
