Yep, as Mr Metters says, the quick and dirty is to use the MS for batch fire fuel, still easier with the 12V 3ltr auto "flywheel / starter ring", whilst retaining the existing ignition setup for sparks. I can’t remember the MS handling odd-fire, but may be the case now?

You could alternatively change to a 6R4 ecu that is designed for odd-fire; will need a crank timing and cam position sensor, and you can then have sequential fuelling and twin coil spark setup... If you fancy that, then I have all the kit waiting for a good home 8)

MS Extra firmware can do odd fire

It can also do "twin dizzy" which will work with the 604 dual points/dual coil setup. It only has one distributor but logically it is two as it has two king leads and the rotor arm has two contacts.

It will be nice to retain the wierdness. Also it means that if something goes wrong you can limp home on three cylinders.

Yes agree :-) I like it, sounds great! Worth sneaking some decent cams in there, and long branch smallish bore 3-1 headers :-)

I think that I found a solution.

At the bottom of the bellhousing on a 604 there is a little plate that covers the bottom inch or two of flywheel.

If I get a replacement standard flywheel I can drill a series of holes in the back of the flywheel, maybe 4mm deep or so (?) and then make a replacement cover plate which holds a hall effect sensor so that the holes pass over the tip of the sensor.

Anyone see a problem with this?

All sounds good, except I would use a VR sensor instead than hall ie the OEM type sensor. The drillings do need to be about 10mm ish diameter to reduce edge effects and alising; so just make them as big diameter as you can. Great stuff, look forward to hearing more :-)

Sounds like the same engine my dad used to have in his 77 R30 TS.
That was the 2664cc with 2 Orrible Carbs. 120bhp ish.

Could you not go for the same setup as a R30 TX. Which was Bosch K Jetronic on the 2664cc. That was rated at 150bhp and was reasonable on fuel. I had one in my younger years. Fairly simple configuration.

I thought the early 30 had the single carb twin choke or later the A310 3 choke set up being a single plus a single with 2 vacuum driven chokes.

I just called my dad to ask him, since he likes talking about old cars ;-)

He said the 30TS had one small carb, and then a double Webber for when you put your foot down.
He commented that it "Ran like a pig when cold", and Never run right.

Sound similar to the 2.8 V6 GTA. !

Going back to the K-Jetronic theme.(aka R30TX) GTA V6 vin number 21 (1st production GTA ?). Went to the USA, and it had K-Jetronic.

Its on this site, in members cars, USA.
