ASAN/CROIX Track Day SEPTEMBER 18th

Postby simontaylor » Sat Jul 31, 2004 9:09 am

Croix en Ternois (France)

Stephen,

Have you got any other details on this event? I've not done a track day before and I'm keen to participate, or even just go accross and watch.
What's the format? just the day or more of a weekend afair?
Is it a serious track day for race-preped cars or can standard Alpines join in too? Infact, do many cars attend? What are the costs etc?
Is there any instruction, timing or what ever? Looks like a little food can be had on-site, judging by their web site - nice one.
I assume you have some answers as you must have attended a couple of years ago to get those Gallary pictures.
And lastly, for now, would you be willing to organise entries on our behalf?

Hi Simon,

I normally go just for the Track Day which was on Sunday last year.

The track time is split into alternate 30-40min slots for racers (single seaters) and road cars. There's also a ladies only slot and a parade lap.

No instruction and only an informal briefing as such. Just turn up with your helmet! You can even pay on the day.

Its a really flexible event and you can pay for/participate in as much or as little as you like. e.g. Full weekend including meals, track day only or even just parking to look at the other cars.

Paul at ARR has all the prices. I expect Joe does too. I'll try and get hold of them and post them on the site ASAP.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Postby Tony Smith » Sat Aug 14, 2004 10:27 pm

Have been several times to this and can highly recommend it. More track time than you will ever use and always a fantastic selection of all Alpines and Gordinis to see as well as plenty of Renault based proper race cars.

I heard that the track day is Saturday only this year. Anyone know if that's true.

I intend to go, but haven't booked anything yet.

CROIX TRACK DAY SATURDAY 18th SEPTEMBER

Postby stephendell » Fri Aug 27, 2004 6:44 pm

Hi, a few people have asked me to 'organise' a trip to Croix just for the track day on Saturday 18th September.

Here are the details for those of you that might be interested:

You'll need a helmet and they usually like to see a copy of your logbook. Fill up or bring a can of fuel. There's nothing worse than running out at the circuit. Obviously make sure your car's OK, brakes checked, battery clamped down etc.

Assuming you're not a member of ASAN (which I guess is most of you!!) the cost is as follows

Circuit time 85 euros (advance) 115 euros (on the day)
Paddock only 25 euros (advance or on the day)

Bring cash if you want to pay on the day.

9.00 Paddock opens
9.45 Briefing
10.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A (road going Alpines)
11.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A
12.00 30 mins ladies only
12.30 Lunch
13.30 Parade lap for all vehicles
14.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A
15.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A
16.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A
17.00 20 mins circuit time CAT A

Total track time for roadgoing Alpines 2 hours

CAT B tracktime is for competition prepared Alpines only
CAT C tracktime is for single seaters only

For those of you that wish to travel in convoy, we are planning to travel by Eurotunnel.

Suggested train times are:

Depart Folkestone on Saturday 18 September 2004 at 06:28
Return Calais/Coquelles on Saturday 18 September 2004 at 19:57

These tickets are currently available at £39 return purchased on-line

The 6.28 train arrives in France at 8.03. The journey to the circuit is approximately 90 minutes. Check in is at least 30 minutes before the train leaves.

If you think we should get an earlier train please let me know.

Thanks
Stephen

Stephen,

I'm up for it, 06:28 should be fine for my car to get to the circuit in good time, when going to Zolder the 39 GBP deal was a 'flexible day return' so long as you return before midnight on the same day.

Should be a good days blast!!!

All have some of that too.

I'll be coming too Steve, although it may just be paddock time for me , although I'll take the 17's off my Quadra and put them on my 2wd 21 just in case I can blag on the track. You never know they might take pity on a poor Englander who's GTA broke down at the last minute!

Tony, as 21 turbos were eligable for the Zolder Alpine record attempt, then your chances "might be good" ??? All depends on the French bureacracy!!! See you there, Simon.

Is a crash helmet any old tin lid or does it need to have any particular kite mark or BS no?
In fact I better look in the loft tonight and make sure the pigeons hav'nt given birth in it and eaten the lining.

They didn't look at dates on helmets or suits last time, so I'm assuming anything goes within reason.

Hi Iain,
Welcome to the forum and see you on Saturday.
I don't know if you know, but as well as a helemet, the organisers will want to see your registration documents too, ..... so I'm told.
