gear rods bearings.

Postby jagcat12 » Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi

While taking bits off to see if I could access the heater temperature knob came across this bearing that has almost disintegrated
which holds the front of the gear lever rod..Looks like made of nylon See attachment. Is this part available or could I have one made in metal?

Thanks Dave g

its 6001006799. That makes it alpine specific, so probably an NLA item. Its also 091094 at Simon auto 30 euro plus postage.
I wouldn't make it out of metal as it will increase noise and probably stiffen up the gear change , but making your own from Delrin or another similar self lubricating plastic or 3d printing in ABS might work.
For £30, I'd buy it from Simon.

Agree.. Acetal etc rather than metal. You wouldn't get it made for less than SimonAuto price. Needs machining, metal sleeves for bolts etc. You probably could DIY.. Acetal offcuts on Ebay..20mm thick.

Get a few made! I guess we'll all struggle with this kind of thing. Could you ask him to make me one too please? I presume it might be cheap enough...

another item for the "we all need one, none available" list....
The hard bit is having a cad model to go from, unless you have an old fashioned machining shop that will copy one or work from a sketch.
These kinds of plastic age, so we will all need one soon....

Same part for 610 and gta.. so gta owners can buy too...I’d expect all cars will need it as ithey look to rot, not wear...
