Remote oil pipe chafing

Just a quick cautionary tale of a warning that went unheeded and could have ended in disaster. It goes like this: a year ago, your friendly MOT guy points out a small oil spot that might indicate an oil leak, but not enough to fail the car (it's Denmark, so seepage is usually ok, but a leak will fail the inspection). You brush it off as not a leak, having come from some messy work you did, when you recently split the system apart to attach an adapter because you wanted to do a mechanical oil pressure check. So most likely a leftover drip from previous spillage, you reply to your MOT guy. All is good and time and miles go by. You find yourself underneath...again...rerouting some wires and decide, while you're already underneath, to take a look around for the source of the MOT guy's complaint. And what you find is this horrible sight:
