GTA Air Vents Removal

Postby Wrightbr » Sat Sep 14, 2019 12:43 pm

Hi

MY GTA Turbo has finally developed the intermittent speedo. Going to clean all the connections in rear arch etc but also want to check the connector behind the air vent in the instrument panel. How do you remove the air vent ? Don't want to push or pull the wrong way and break some brittle plastic?

Thanks
Brad

I wouldn't bother Brad. I'd take off the steering wheel (you'll need an m7 bolt) and then remove the front of the pod.

At least that way you can get at things properly, I've never been convinced by the other option as all you're doing is wiggling things when really they need a proper clean.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Thanks Darren

I may have got away with it. Cleaned the connector behind the offside rear wheel with contact cleaner and it seems ok now. I removed the dash pod a few years ago to replace a blown bulb, such a hassle when most cars are two screws to remove a dashpod

You generally need to remove at least one air vent to remove the pod without damage. They just out but there is a plastic clip each side and one will undoubtably break off.
